Its been a little rough lately. Jacob had really bad gas, was very uncomfortable and didn't want to eat. We finally got his gas to subside and he ate a little more, but they hooked him up to IV fluids just to be sure he doesn't dehydrate. For the most part, he doesn't seem to be in pain, just uncomfortable. He hadn't make a wet diaper in a few hours, so they came in around 3am to drain his bladder, and that seemed to make him feel better as well. Since then he has been sleeping. I tried to wake him up around 5am to get him to eat, but he wasn't hungry, so I gave him his medicine and he is back asleep.
The plan for this morning is to remove his other chest tube so he will hopefully be more comfortable and feel like eating. He can't eat anything until they take it out, but I don't think that is going to bother him. They also might put the foley catheter back in because he isn't making wet diapers. :( This isn't a step backwards or anything, its more about getting the tube out and getting his bladder flowing again, and getting him to eat so he can get back to normal. They should be down after 8am to take the chest tube out. So we'll see what they saw about the catherter then.
Otherwise things are going well. His blood pressure is down to normal (he is taking medication for it, but its normal) and everything else has been fine. Hopefully he will be eating and peeing like a champ by this afternoon. :)
